Most jobs start at $99 plus parts
We always quote before we start the work. The number you see is the number you pay.
Screens and batteries
Cracked screens and worn batteries. Some are $99 plus parts; tougher jobs like glued-in batteries take more work and cost more. Battery health under 80 percent is when we usually recommend replacement.
Slow machine cleanup
A slow laptop is often storage, startup clutter, or a failing drive. We clean it up or upgrade to an SSD so it feels new again. Most older laptops feel two to three times faster after an SSD.
Why is my laptop or PC slow?Virus and software fixes
Virus and malware cleanup, operating system installs, and data transfers and migrations. Backing up your data is a paid add-on; we recommend backing up before you bring a device in.
Check for a virusFrom drop-off to pick-up
Most repairs are same day or next business day when the parts are in stock. Diagnostics typically take 24 to 48 hours depending on the device. Here is how it usually goes.
Drop off
Walk in any time Tue to Sat. No appointment needed. Bring the charger if you have it.
Quick look, then a quote
We look at the machine and tell you what is going on. If we can see the problem at the counter, that quick look is free. If we take it in to diagnose, the $99 repair applies if we fix it, or a $50 bench fee if we cannot. We quote before any work.
Repair or trade up
If the repair is worth it, we do it. If it is not, you can apply your old device's trade-in value (if it has any) toward a refurbished laptop, and we move your data over for $60 with your purchase, half the standard $120.
Good to know before you bring it in
How much does a repair cost?
Most repairs start at $99 plus parts. If we look at it and a fix without parts is not possible, a $50 bench fee applies. Harder jobs, like a glued-in battery or certain screens, run higher. We always quote before we do the work. See our cost guide for details.
How long do repairs take?
Most repairs are done the same day or the next business day, depending on parts and how busy we are. Storage upgrades and data transfers are usually same day. Screen replacements that require ordered parts may take longer.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We treat your data with care, and when you buy a refurbished laptop from us we transfer your data for half off with your purchase ($60, normally $120). We do not browse or copy anything off your machine. Backing up your data is a service we offer for a fee; by default it is on you to back up before you bring a device in.
Do you fix both Mac and PC?
Yes, Apple and Windows, laptops and desktops, all major brands. Mac, MacBook, iMac, Mac mini, Surface, ThinkPad, XPS, ProBook, Pavilion, ZenBook, Aspire, ROG, Razer Blade, Alienware, and custom-built PCs.
What if the repair is not worth it?
If a fix costs more than the laptop is worth, you can put that toward a refurbished laptop instead and leave the same day with your data moved over. That trade-up is the idea Computers for Change was built on.
Do you need an appointment?
No. Walk in any time Tuesday through Saturday during shop hours and we will take a look. Tue to Fri 11:30 to 5:30, Sat 11:30 to 5:00.
Do you offer warranties on repairs?
Yes. Replacement parts we install carry the parts warranty from the supplier, and our labor is backed by 16 years of repeat customers. If something goes wrong, bring it back and we will look at it.
